Ladies Beer League Presents - Women's Christmas!

  • Brightwood Brewery 35 Portland St. Dartmouth Canada (map)

Come celebrate the holiday's with us on January 6th at Brightwood Brewery in Dartmouth.

We will have an afternoon of fun and surprises and will once again be hosting a Yankee Swap - so bring those gifts you can't return and hopefully swap them out for something better.

Not sure what Women's Christmas is or how it fits in? Yeah neither did we - but luckily after some Google searching we found that Jan Richardson ( provides a wonderful explanation:

In some parts of the world, Epiphany (January 6, which brings the Christmas season to a close) is celebrated as "Women's Christmas." Originating in Ireland, where it is known as Nollaig na mBan, Women's Christmas began as a day when the women, who often carried the domestic responsibilities all year, took Epiphany Day as an occasion to enjoy a break and celebrate together at the end of the holidays.

Whether your domestic commitments are many or few, Women’s Christmas offers an opportunity to pause and step back from whatever has kept you busy and hurried in the past weeks or months. As the Christmas season comes to a close, this is an occasion both to celebrate with friends and also to spend time in reflection before diving into the responsibilities of this new year.

*As we are celebrating spirit of Women's Christmas to take time to stop, reflect, and celebrate, everyone is invited to join us regardless of gender, celebration of Christmas, or domestic responsibilities preformed.
